I have tried to repeat your experiment with...Hello! I have tried to repeat your experiment with relying on mroute commands only to forward multicast traffic (in EVE-ng, IOL). It didn't work for me: first hop PIM-SM router said that "PIM(0): Addition of register encap tunnel as forwarding interface of (10.10.10.10, 239.1.1.1) defered until tunnel is created". First hop PIM-SM router has only static mroute to the RP address. When I add static unicast route to the RP address on the first hop PIM-SM router, PIM-tunnel goes up and traffic is forwarded to the reciever.
